Irish Motocross Championship Round 4 - Race Report

The fourth round of the Irish Motocross Championship took place at Doon Moto Parc, hosted by Fastlane MCC, with the Pro class delivering intense racing action. Jason Meara emerged as the dominant force early on, securing victories in the first two races with impressive speed and precision. In Race 1, Meara established himself as the frontrunner. James Mackrel closely trailed Meara, taking second place, finishing 13 seconds behind. Jay McCrum, Nathan Green, and Niall Cregan also finished strong, showing consistency and pushing hard to keep pace with the leaders.

Race 2 mirrored much of the first, as Meara once again claimed victory with another flawless performance. Mackrel once again came in second, putting in a solid effort but unable to close the gap on Meara, finishing 13 seconds behind again. Niall Cregan rounded out the podium in third, followed by McCrum and Aidan McDonagh, all putting up strong challenges across the 11 laps.

However, the third race saw James Mackrel turn the tables and take the win, putting an end to Meara’s clean sheet as he suffered a rear wheel puncture early on and had to come into the pits for a wheel change. Niall Cregan delivered another strong performance, finishing in second place with a gap of 17 seconds behind Mackrel. Meara, who had dominated the earlier races came back through to finish in 14th.

Aside from the battle at the top, other notable performances came from Fin Wilson, Lewis Spratt, and Aidan McDonagh, who consistently fought for positions within the top 10, showing great resilience and skill across all three races. Jake Farrelly and Dylan Stynes also made their mark with strong rides, battling across the midfield.

Overall, Round 4 of the championship was filled with thrilling battles, particularly between Meara and Mackrel, who split the wins on the day. Niall Cregan consistently proved to be a strong contender, securing podium finishes in all three races. The competitiveness in the Pro classes continues to heat up as the season progresses, with each rider pushing their limits in pursuit of championship glory. With McCrum and Cregan fighting for the Pro Championship the next rounds promise even more excitement as the championship comes to it’s conclusion.
